Torecognizeandencourageoutstandingtheoreticalorexperimentalcontributionstocondensedmatterphysics.Theprizeconsistsof$20,000andacertificatecitingthecontributionsmadebytherecipientorrecipients.Itwillbeawardedannually.

Theprizewasendowedin1952byAT&TBellLaboratories(nowBellLaboratories,Alcatel-Lucent)andiscurrentlyco-sponsoredwiththeHTC-VIAGroupasameansofrecognizingoutstandingscientificwork.ItisnamedinmemoryofOliverE.Buckley,aninfluentialpresidentofBellLabs.
2、Rules&Eligibility
Eachprizeshallbeawardedforamostimportantcontributiontotheadvancementofknowledgeincondensedmatterphysics.Theprizeshallordinarilybeawardedtoonepersonbutmaybesharedwhenalltherecipientshavecontributedtothesameaccomplishments.Nominationsareactiveforthreeyears.
